President Cyril Ramaphosa has assured the international community that the land reform process in South Africa will be done lawfully and no land grabs will be allowed.

Ramaphosa delivered the David Rockefeller Memorial Lecture at the Council of Foreign Relations in New York. News24 reports Ramaphosa said US president Donald Trump's comments on land expropriation in South Africa were ill-informed. He said if Trump had taken the time to get correct information from South Africa he would have been much better informed and his comments would have been better appreciated by South Africans. He said the problem is going to be solved in a typical South African way - because the country was able to solve its problems in the past. Ramaphosa said 650 000 submissions and proposals about the expropriation of land without compensation are currently being considered by Parliament, who will come up with a report on the way forward. The lecture forms part of Ramaphosa's visit to the city for the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.
