The Proteas netball team will look to continue their purple patch at the 2019 Netball World Cup in Liverpool when they face Scotland on Monday evening.

Over the weekend the Proteas got off to a flying start with a 76-45 win over Trinidad and Tobago, a 90-35 drubbing of Fiji and an impressive 55-52 win over the world number two’s, Jamaica.

Maryka Holtzhausen of the Free State says that they're targeting the game against Jamaica.

“The win was just amazing. I think that this was the game that we had been talking about for years. Our World Cup revolved around this game, and this is where we wanted to perform well.

“We really did that against Jamaica. We have come so close on so many occasions and against Jamaica we got the points on the board.”

Erin Burger on her turn felt that the match against the team from the Caribbean was of vital importance and sets the tone for the rest of their campaign.

“I think in the broader scheme of things the win was very important and it is also something that we really wanted.

“Usually in a game like this we fall short and then we battle throughout the rest of the tournament because we aren’t lying favourably in our group.

“It means that the next games would be against tougher opponents, but I do think that we have placed ourselves in the best possible position to perform well going into the rest of the tournament.

Monday evening's game between South Africa and Scotland starts at 18:25.
