TheProteas maintained a 100% winning record in the 2019 Netball World Cup, winning 4 out of 4 matches, including a win against second in the World Jamaica.

The South African Women's Netball team went into their stage two preliminaries game against Scotland on a high after beating second in the world, Jamaica, just 24 hours before the game.

The game against Scotland started relatively slowly in the opening quarter with the lead changing hands a few times, but it was South Africa who went into the quarter break in the lead.

The team continued their form, especially coming from Lenize Potgieter. The experienced Goal Shooter missed next to nothing in front of the hoop, eventually carrying the Spar Proteas to a 32-20 lead at half time.

Sigrid Burger was introduced to the court with 30 minutes left in the match, and added to the precision of Potgieter up front. The lead stretched further for the Spar Proteas who eventually went on to win the match 66-38. Potgieter and Burger finished with match with a 100% and 90% goal shooting percent respectively, scoring 56 of the 66 goals between the two of them.

Speaking after the game, an excited Sigrid Burger reiterated the teams talking points for the Scotland match.

"The most important thing that Norma told us, is to put that now behind us, and we take each game that we play this week match for match", Burger said.

"So today, we just focused on Scotland and it's obviously a build-up. We are not here to just to fill up the positions, we are here to compete and ultimately to compete for the top." Burger added.

The Spar Proteas next task comes in the form of Uganda on Wednesday evening 17 July at 20H00, where a win will see the South African's qualify for the tournament's semi-final, despite still needing to play against England on Thursday July 18.

It will not be an easy task for the Spar Proteas as they face a team which is ranked number 6 in the world, but their 4 wins in 4 days will see them take much needed momentum into Wednesday evening's game.
