A very competitive Elite field has entered for the triathlon, and it will feature the Olympic and Commonwealth Games medallist, Henri Schoeman, the multiple world champion, Bradley Weiss as well as Matt Trautman and Emma Pallant of England.

The Elites will compete in a 1500m swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run.

The Professional Triathletes Organisation has partnered with Triathlon SA in order to support the national championships.

Christa Roestoff, the Secretary of Triathlon South Africa and Free State Triathlon President expressed her delight in having the PTO on-board.

“I’m excited about the PTO’s involvement in the South Africa National Triathlon Championship.

We share the same values of supporting our athletes and the future of triathlon.

“It is wonderful to be able to hold our National Championship in the current climate when so many races elsewhere have been cancelled.

“We are excited to welcome PTO Professionals to the race and thank the PTO for their support.”

The SA Championships will take place on Saturday and Sunday, and due to Covid-19 regulations, no spectators will be permitted.
