Instead, she has shifted her focus to the 5000m.

Her manager, Lee-Roy Newton, has organised an athletics meet in Durban later this month where she will attempt to book her ticket to the Far East.

In order to board the flight to Tokyo later this year, Semenya should have run the distance in 15 minutes 10 seconds or faster.
