Proteas arrive in Buenos Aires for Argentina Pro League challenge─── MORGAN PIEK 14:08 Tue, 19 Apr 2022
The South African men’s hockey team has arrived in Buenos Aires for the Argentine leg of the FIH Pro Hockey League.
The Proteas will face Argentina twice this week after previously having played all of their matches in the series at the North-West University in Potchefstroom.
South Africa will have to make do without the services of the Cassiem brothers, Mustaphaa and Dayaan, as well as the seasoned campaigners, Nic Spooner and Daniel Bell.
They do however have their captain, Tim Drummond, back for the two games.
The Proteas also welcome three debutants for the two Tests, with Trevor de Lorna, Guy Morgan, and Thabang Modise all set for their first senior appearances for South Africa.
The Pro League in Potchefstroom proved to be a tough baptism of fire for the rebuilding Proteas, with the team being unable to record a single victory in the eight games played against the Netherlands, Germany, India and France.
Following the two Tests against the Argentines, South Africa will face England, Spain and Belgium twice each.
Argentina and South Africa face each other at 21:00 on Saturday in the first game.
