In Haas and Magnussen’s maiden Formula 1 pole position, the grid has been set for today’s sprint, which will, in turn, set the grid for tomorrow’s Sao Paulo Grand Prix. With the threat of rain looming and a disappointment for George Russel who went off at turn 5, Magnussen’s timing was crucial and, with shock to Formula 1 fans, delivered a welcomed and impressive victory.

With the wet-dry conditions of the track due to a drizzle throughout, Magnussen managed to pull off a career first and owed it to the team saying; “What a phenomenal job the team did to put me out on pit lane as the first car to give me the best piece of track.”

In response to the weather, Magnussen stated the car was ‘perfect’ which played a big role in his victory last night. “It was Q3, you’ve got to go for it. The car was strong, we were in contention for Q3, we were looking good enough for that, but there was always a bit of a drizzle, not fully dry, so our car was perfect for that,” he said.

In what Formula 1 is calling the possible quote of the season, Haas’ Guenther Steiner stated, “When it rains soup, you need to have a spoon! And we had a spoon ready today!” as they scooped a victory for both Haas as a team and Magnussen as a driver.

In today’s, Saturday the 12th of November, sprint Magnussen will be starting in pole position followed by Verstappen in 2nd and Russel in 3rd.

The Sao Paulo Grand Prix race is set to get underway on Sunday evening, the 13th of November, in Brazil at 3pm.
