Schoenmaker won the event at the 2023 FINA World Aquatics in Fukuoka, Japan on Friday to finally earn a full house of gold medals by adding it to her Olympic and Commonwealth Games titles.

The 26-year-old South African touched the wall in 2:20.80 to take the title, while the USA's Kate Douglas took the silver in 2:21.23, and Tes Schouten of the Netherlands claimed the bronze in 2:21.63.

Earlier in the week Schoenmaker won the silver in the 100m breaststroke.
