Aussie Diamonds complete Test series clean sweep against South Africa─── MORGAN PIEK 10:36 Sun, 12 Oct 2025

The Australian Diamonds underlined their dominance in world netball with a commanding 65–42 victory over the Proteas in Adelaide on Sunday (12/10), completing a 3–0 series whitewash.
After a tough outing in Wollongong, the Proteas were eager to bounce back in the final Test. With the series already decided, South Africa were playing for pride and confidence heading into future international fixtures.
The Proteas started brightly, putting the Diamonds under early pressure and staying within touch for most of the opening quarter. However, the world champions showed their class in the final minutes, pulling away with seven unanswered goals to take the quarter 20–11.

South Africa came out with renewed energy in the second quarter, using their pace and quick passing to close the gap. Head coach Jenny van Dyk made a couple of tactical changes midway through the period, bringing on Owethu Ngubane for Kamogelo Masego, while debutant Juanita van Tonder replaced Nicola Smith at goalkeeper.
Despite the adjustments, Australia’s experience and composure shone through as they took the quarter 19–9 and went into halftime leading 39–20.
At the start of the championship quarter, van Dyk made further changes, introducing Rolene Streutker and Refiloe Nketsa. The Proteas showed resilience and managed to win the quarter 12–10, but the Diamonds still held a comfortable 49–32 advantage going into the final stretch.
The last quarter saw South Africa continue to fight hard, but the clinical and physical Australians maintained control, outscoring their visitors 16–10 to secure a 65–42 victory and complete the clean sweep.
“Firstly, congratulations to Australia on their fantastic performance,” said Van Dyk.
“There were moments where we were right on point, especially on attack, but we know there’s still a lot of hard work ahead.”

“We’ve identified key areas that need improvement – not quick fixes, but deeper work that we’ll focus on once we’re back home. This series has been a big learning experience for us.
“We’ve learnt a lot about our players – their strengths, adaptability, and how best to manage them. It’s been an eye-opener and a valuable step in our growth.”
The Proteas weren’t able to complete a single victory on their gruelling six-Test tour after also losing 3-0 to the Silver Ferns in New Zealand.
