The Toyota Cheetahs are confident that the two loosehead props, Ox Nche and Charles Marais, will be fit for Saturday’s Guinness Pro14 game against Scarlets in Llanelli.

Charles Marais picked up food poisoning on the flight to Ireland, while Nche reaggravated a knee injury against Connacht.

Speaking to OFM Sport from Cardiff, the Cheetahs' coach, Franco Smith, said that both players are recovering well.

“Ox and Charles are both recovering very well. Charles started training with the team again on Tuesday. We’ll have to assess him, and if he is still battling we will have to make a call on him.

“It looks like Ox will be fine, and I will be giving him the maximum amount of time to recover. The doctor and the physio, Pikkie du Toit, are both very confident that he will be ready, so hopefully, we will get him across the line.

Meanwhile, the centre, Nico Lee, is on his way home after being banned for 13 weeks for clearing the contents on his nose onto the Connacht flank, Colby Fainga’a.

The departure of Lee has coincided with the arrival of Benhard Janse van Rensburg who has recovered from his concussion protocol. Smith earlier indicated that Janse van Rensburg and Dries Swanepoel will for the centre combination.

Smith will be announcing his side on Friday afternoon at 14:00.

Sunday’s game at Parc y Scarlets kicks off at 15:00.
