Free State are just focusing on Border─── MORGAN PIEK 15:34 Mon, 03 Jun 2019
The Toyota Free State XV will settle for nothing less than a bonus point win over the Border Bulldogs, and a huge favour from Western Province, during their final round-robin match in the SuperSport Rugby Challenge this weekend.
On Sunday Province came from behind to beat the Free State in the dying minutes of their game in Port Elizabeth.
Now Free State will need Province to beat the Boland Cavaliers in order for them to stand any chance of qualifying for the play-offs.
The Free State coach, Izak van der Westhuizen, told OFM Sport that they still have a job to do this week
“It was a bit disappointing, and there were a couple of calls that didn’t go our way. But, that is rugby and that is how it goes sometimes.
“We still had a couple of opportunities that we didn’t use and those are the areas that we will focus on, see if we can correct them and be better this weekend.
“Border is definitely going to be a game that we will be targeting for maximum points. Then we will have to wait for the result from the Cape.
“We have been in the position before and hope for the best, but we will be preparing as if things will go to plan.
“We are in a position where Western Province will need to get the win over Boland, so we will be waiting anxiously over the weekend.
“For now will we be concentrating on the game against Border.”
Saturday’s game between Free State and Border at the Clive Solomon Stadium in Heidedal kicks off at 14:00.
