Scotland is expected to be the first team to face the new world champions, the Springboks, when the two sides clash in a series of two Tests in 2020.

While the news of the Scottish facing the Boks is yet to be confirmed it has been mentioned on Wikipedia. The website is not the most credible source, however, it would make sense for the Boks to face the Scottish and not miss out on international action.

With all the other nations pretty much tied up for the mid-year internationals, ninth-ranked Scotland is the strongest available team to put the Springboks to the test.

As it stands, Australia will host Ireland in a series, Japan will host the World Cup runners-up England, Argentina will be at home to France in a series, and the All Blacks will be in action against Wales. Each of these teams will face each other twice.

Argentina will also be at home to Franco Smith’s Italy is a one-off Test.

The venues for the two Tests between South Africa and Scotland are yet to be confirmed as well, but the matches are scheduled for 4 and 11 July 2020.

The last time Scotland tour South Africa was back in 2014 for the one-off Test against the Springboks at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth. On that occasion, the Springboks thumped Scotland 55-6.

In the 27 previous Tests between South Africa and Scotland, the Springboks have won on 22 occasions, and their last defeat was in 2010 at Murrayfield in Edinburgh.
