The American international scrumhalf, Ruben de Haas, has expressed his delight at being able to resume his career at the Toyota Cheetahs.

While the 21-year-old is still waiting to make his Guinness PRO14 debut for the Cheetahs, he has been in the system for quite some time and played a big role in the Free State XV’s success during last seasons’ SuperSport Rugby Challenge.

Already a Rugby World Cup veteran, De Haas, has extended his contract at the Cheetahs by a further year.

Speaking to OFM Sport, De Haas, said that it has been a frustrating time, but he's happy to continue representing the Cheetahs.

“I am very excited just to extend my stay with the Cheetahs for another year. I’m really looking forward to being able to put on the Cheetahs jersey again and play again.

“In the tough times were are in now the most important thing is to stay safe, look after your health and be with your family.

“Who knows when we will be able to be back at training again and be able to play again, but I am just very grateful and excited to extend my stay in Bloem.

Last year during the Rugby World Cup in Japan, De Haas, made his World Cup starting debut for the USA Eagles against Argentina on his 21ste birthday.

Last year De Haas made his USA Eagles World Cup starting debut against Argentina on this 21st birthday. During the matches against the losing finalists, England, and against France, De Haas, played off of the bench.
