Griquas land Kings star Banda─── MORGAN PIEK 14:00 Tue, 04 Aug 2020
The Tafel Lager Griquas have boosted their squad for the domestic season which will hopefully be getting underway in the next month or so.
The Peacock Blues have welcomed the flyhalf, Masixole Banda, to Kimberley from the Southern Kings.
The diminutive pivot has been one of the Kings standout players in the Guinness PRO14, and has proven to have a very educated boot as well.
In addition to being a backline marshal, he is more than capable anywhere in the back-three as well.
Griquas coach, Scott Mathy, told OFM Sport that Banda will add a lot of value to their attack.
“We are really excited to have Banda with us, he joined up with us on Monday.
“He is a really exciting player and he has a lot of experience in the PRO14.
“He is just an all-round good game, whether it is running from the back or his kicking, and he can also kick for poles.
“He offers us a lot of experience and also a lot of attacking threat.
“He is really a good guy too, so he is going to be a character in the team which is always great.”
Earlier in the season against the Toyota Cheetahs, Banda, became the first South African-based player to playing 50 PRO14 matches.
SA Rugby has its sights set on late August or early September for domestic rugby to resume.
