Johnson wins first Masters title─── 08:53 Mon, 16 Nov 2020
The USA’s Dustin Johnson won his first-ever green jacket on Sunday by winning the 2020 Masters at the Augusta National in Georgia with 20 under par.
Johnson started his fourth and final round of the iconic major with a four-shot lead.
Although his final round included bogeys, Johnson still managed to finish the final round at four-under-par 68, to finish the competition with a score of 20 under 268, breaking the tournament’s previous lowest score of 18 under 270 set by Tiger Woods back in 1997.
Johnson, says he had no idea he was on his way to beating the record.
“I did not, not exactly.
“I assumed I had the lead but I did not know by how many. That was kind of my goal.
“I did look at the leaderboard earlier, then after that, I told myself not to worry about what everybody is doing and just to play as good as I can.
“I didn’t look at the leaderboard at all from probably about the seventh on.”
Meanwhile, South Africa’s Dylan Frittelli finished the final round on a par 72 to finish the competition on 11 under par for a tie of fifth along with the former world number one, Rory McIlroy.
