Bloemfontein Celtic extended their winless streak to six matches on the bounce in the Premier Soccer League on Tuesday with a 1-1 draw to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville ended in a goalless stalemate, however, Phunya Sele Sele can consider themselves very unlucky after a perfectly legal goal was disallowed.

In the 62nd minute of the match, Motebang, Sera scored a goal with a bicycle kick on the ground, but the linesmen incorrectly ruled it to be from an off-side position.

Replays indicated that there was no way that Sera could have been off-side and the decision not to award the coach is sadly another example of the sub-standard officiating in the league.

Following the match, Celtic, coach John Maduka told OFM Sport that he would have to study the video footage, but from where they say pitch-side it may have been off-side.

“It is something that I will have to look at again. It looked like there was another player that put him on-side.

“It is something that is always very difficult to comment on unless we get to see the video clip.

“From where we were sitting it looked like it wasn’t off-side.”

The results see Celtic remain in 11th in the standings with 11 points from their 12 games to date.

Over at Soccer City, Kaizer Chiefs moved up to 7th in the standings following a 3-0 drubbing of Tshakhuma FC.
