City through to first-ever Champions League final─── MORGAN PIEK 09:55 Wed, 05 May 2021
Manchester City are through to the final of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the clubs history.
A double strike by Riyad Mahrez saw the Citizens winning the match against Paris Saint-Germain at the Etihad Stadium 2-0 and claiming a 4-1 aggregate during the two legs of the semi-final.
The Algerian, Mahrez's goal also decided the first leg in Paris last week.
The City manager, Pep Guardiola, explains what reaching the finals means to them.
“We beat a team that knocked out Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
“We struggled early on but were much better in the second half. It was an incredible, huge victory for us.
“What the players have done this season is incredible in the toughest year for everyone. Being so close to winning the Premier League and in the final of the Champions League is so good.”
This evening at 21:00 Chelsea will host Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge in the other semi-final.
