The friendly match has been arranged in order to give the Cheetahs some much-needed game time ahead of the Currie Cup, while they will also be paying homage to schools’ rugby.

The setup of the Invitational XV will be very much the same as that of the Barbarians, and the 20-year-old Steenkamp told OFM Sport that this excites him.

“I enjoy playing against the Cheetahs because it's always an exciting match and I think it's going to be a lot of fun.

“It's the first time that I am going to be playing in a Barbarians-style team. It's going to be the same kind of setup and I think we are going to have a lot of freedom when we play.

“We're not going to have that much plays and structure, but it's going to be a lot of fun.”

Meanwhile, the coach Ricardo Loubscher has also included several Shimlas players in his squad, while a couple of the fringe Cheetahs players will always be running out for his team.

Another interesting selection is that of the Western Province flanker, Johan du Toit, who is the brother of the 2019 Rugby World Cup Player of the Tournament, Pieter-Steph du Toit.

Hawies Fourie will name his team for the match tomorrow afternoon, while the Invitational XV will be named tomorrow.

At this stage, Jaco Peyper is set to be the referee for the match.

Saturday’s match at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 16:00.
