The University of Stellenbosch Maties captain and centre, David Brits, will be joining the Cheetahs. They have also acquired the services of the UWC scrumhalf, Branden de Kock, for a year.

Brits is contracted until the end of October next year, while De Kock is contracted until the end of next May.

The Cheetahs coach, Hawies Fourie, told OFM Sport that new faces will be playing in the Currie Cup.

“They made some new acquisitions after the Varsity Cup as well, and we have been through a period of change with quite a number of players that have left the union in the last three to five months.

“We are in a building phase again and there is a lot of new faces that will play for us in the Currie Cup.

“It will be a good experience to play against a team as strong as the Pumas on Friday.”

On Friday the Cheetahs tackle the Pumas at Harlequins Rugby Club in Pretoria. This match in the capital city is set to kick off at 12:00.
