The Bomb Squad comes on for a reason - Elstadt─── MORGAN PIEK 16:43 Thu, 22 Jul 2021
The so-called Bomb Squad will be looking to make a big impact on Saturday when the Springboks tackle the British & Irish Lions in Cape Town in the first of three Tests.
The Boks named a strong bench for the highly anticipated Test in the Mother City, with the likes of Malcolm Marx, Steven Kitshoff, Lood de Jager and Rynhardt Elstadt expected to have a physical presence on the park.
Elstadt said their job is to lift the intensity in the latter stages of the Test.
“Coming from the bench, we play quite an important role.
“We need to lift the intensity where the boys have left off, that is going to be expected from us. To lift the intensity more and the physicality more.
“So, I reckon as they say the Bomb Squad comes on for a reason, but I hope we don’t disappoint the guys out there.”
