The Griquas ran in six tries, with James Verity-Amm, dotting down for a brace as they claimed the season double over John Dobson's charges.

The win has moved the Griquas up to third and if they beat the Pumas this week they will qualify. A defeat can see both the Pumas and Province advance ahead of the Peacock Blues.

Griquas coach, Scott Mathie, told OFM Sport that it was a very special win.

“It was a very special win,” said the former Sharks scrumhalf.

“I don't know when last Griquas has won the double against Western Province.

“I'm just really proud of this team that is able to show resilience the whole time.

“Last week we didn't handle the second half very well and this week were able to do that.

“It was a really good result and obviously this week it's a big one.”

Saturday’s must-win game in Kimberley kicks off at 14:30.
