The All Blacks utility back, Beauden Barrett, has downplayed the idea that this weekend’s Rugby Championship Test against the Springboks in Townsville will be a walk in the park.

The weekend the two bitter rivals will face each other in the long-awaited 100th Test.

The All Blacks head into the Test as the hot favourites, while the pressure is certainly on the Boks following their performance over the past week that saw them losing 30-17 to the Wallabies in Brisbane.

Barrett said the fact that the Springboks are hurting, makes them dangerous.

“It's been a while since we played the Boks and the first time for me personally and any of the team playing against the world champs.

“It's a rivalry that has a long tradition and lots of very memorable games, there's a proud history and I can't wait to hopefully play the 100th on the weekend.

“A wounded Springbok is quite dangerous and we just have to focus on ourselves. We are playing the world champions and we know that they will rise to the occasion and be a lot better than they have been in recent weeks.”

The last time these two teams met was on 21 September 2019 in Yokohama when the All Blacks beat the Springboks 23-13 in Pool B of the Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Saturday’s Test in Queensland kicks off at 9:05.
