The All Blacks need just one point from the Test against the Springboks in Townsville on Saturday to secure the 2021 Rugby Championship.

The Springboks will be going into the 100th Test against the team from the Land of the Long White Cloud as the underdogs, despite being the reigning world champions.

This comes after the Boks’ back-to-back against the Wallabies in Gold Coast and Brisbane over the past fortnight.

The All Blacks just need a single point from Saturday’s Test to win the Rugby Championship and it is highly unlikely that the Boks will manage to win back-to-back Tests with bonus points, deny the New Zealanders any log point and wipe out a points difference of 90.

The seasoned All Blacks lock, Brodie Retallick, said they mustn’t forget that the Springboks are the world champions.

“Where they’ve caught us out the last couple of times, when they did, it was through their line-speed on defence.

“They’ve out-muscled us and we haven’t been able to break them down through our attack and then they’ve punished us.

“So, physically you always got the set-piece battle, but dealing with their line-speed and being able to make breaches and then convert them is going to be massive.”

“The Wallabies played outstandingly the last couple of weeks, but from one week to another you can’t read into it too much and it’s going to be a massive occasion for the 100th test between the two nations.”

Saturday’s Test at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium kicks off at 9:05.
