Shimlas happy to face Maties in first home game─── MORGAN PIEK 14:00 Thu, 28 Oct 2021

The University of the Free State Shimlas welcome facing the University of Stellenbosch Maties in their first home game of the 2022 Varsity Cup.
The Shimlas, who are now under the guidance of André Tredoux, will play away from home in their first game when they tackle UWC in Bellville during round one.
While the Shimlas showed glimpses of their potential in this year, they will want to improve on their performances of the past few years.
Tredoux told OFM Sport that they are in good spirts and a squad and welcome facing the five-time champions at home.
“It's will be a tough start against UWC in down in Cape Town. Paul Treu is doing some really good work and we have a lot of respect for the programme that they are building down there.
“Historically, Maties are one of the strongest teams in the Varsity Cup, but it will be good to welcome them to Bloemfontein where the air is a lot thinner.
“The players are really looking forward to it and they have been working really hard for the last three weeks.”
The 2022 Varsity Cup kicks off on 14 February.
