The Toyota Cheetahs coach, Hawies Fourie, has hailed the efforts of the winger, Daniel Kasende, following his performance against Western Province on Saturday in the Toyota Challenge Cup.

While the Cheetahs lost 31-30 right at the death, Kasende, did enough to earn the man of the match award during what was his debut for the team.

Fourie told OFM Sport that the former Griquas winger is still a little inexperienced but he was happy with his performance.

“Dan played really well and I was glad he received the man of the match award. He deserved it.

“There was just one mistake which cost us seven points just before half time.

“That was just a bit of inexperience on that cross-kick where he for the ball the ten metres from their tryline.

“Leolin Zas gathered the ball and they scored a long-range try against us which brought them back into the game and lead them into the changeroom with a positive mindset.

“He should have done something different like let him catch the ball and just tackle him.

“But those are the lessons that we learn as we go along. I spoke to him and told him that he played really well and that was sort of the only mistake.”

On Wednesday the Cheetahs will tackle the Spanish team, Barcelona, and this game at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 17:30. The Cheetahs will be naming their team for this game on Tuesday.
