The 23-year-old made his Stormers debut in 2017 at the age of 18.

Willemse, who won the Rugby World Cup with the Springboks, is equally comfortable at flyhalf, inside centre and at fullback.

Despite having played more games for his franchise than most players, Willemse downplayed the senior player tag.

“I wouldn't say that I'm a senior player, but there has been a lot of good memories over the years.

I've played with some amazing players and worked with some amazing coaches, especially with coach John (Dobson).

“We've been working together since the 2017 Currie Cup, the one that we won.

“It's been a long time, but it feels like the time has just flown.”

Sunday’s match between the Stormers and Zebre at the Danie Craven Stadium in Coetzenburg kicks off at 18:05.
