More players extend their contracts at the Cheetahs─── MORGAN PIEK 16:00 Wed, 06 Apr 2022
The Toyota Cheetahs have received some further good news with even more players extending their contracts with the franchise.
The Cheetahs have managed to retain the services of the flyhalves, Siya Masuku and Reinhardt Fortuin.
In addition, the two young and exciting centres, Davids Brits and Evardi Boshoff, penned extensions, while the outside back, Cohen Jasper, will also continue to ply his trade at the Cheetahs.
Brits told OFM Sport that there is no reason to leave the Cheetahs.
“I'm ecstatic that coach Hawies (Fourie) has gifted me the opportunity to keep plying my trade this side,” said the exciting midfielder.
“I'm really enjoy Bloem and the team is doing really well. There is absolutely no reason to leave and there are many reasons to stay.
“The team is growing a lot together and the fact that so many guys have decided to stay means a lot and it also shows that something is working this side.”
Other players to have signed contract extensions are Daniel Kasende, Gideon van der Merwe, Jeandré Rudolph, and Victor Sekekete.
The scrumhalf, Brenden de Kock, who joined the Cheetahs from UWC in 2022, will also be staying on at the union, despite having little to almost no game time due to a serious knee injury.
The Cheetahs won’t be playing in Wednesday’s Currie Cup games as they have a bye. Their next game in the competition will be on 15 April against Western Province at the Cape Town Stadium.
