The Sharks beat the log-leaders from Dublin 28-23 to move up to fourth in the standings with two rounds to play.

The win virtually assures the Sharks of a place in the playoffs.

The Sharks coach, Sean Everitt, stressed the importance of the win and being able to secure a home playoff.

“There is talk about it, and we are motivated by that fact.

“From our Super Rugby experiences, if we had to go and play a quarter-final in Christchurch on a Saturday it was going to be a really tough ask.

“I don't think any of the South African teams have won knockout stages overseas in the Super Rugby.

“It is going to be difficult and that's why there is everything to play for.”

Meanwhile, the Stormers moved up to second with their 32-7 win over Glasgow Warriors. The Bulls beat Benetton 46-29 and remain in the hunt, while the Lions lost 33-30 to Connacht.
