Griffons vs. Leopards postponed to Tuesday─── MORGAN PIEK 08:11 Mon, 23 May 2022
Weather was more than a great equaliser on Saturday in the Currie Cup First Division game between the Griffons and Leopards in Welkom.
Heavy rain in the region forced the game between the two old rivals to be postponed to tomorrow.
Elsewhere in the First Division, the Eastern Province Elephants thumped the Valke 47-7 in Gqeberha.
In Wellington the Boland Cavaliers beat the Simbas of Kenya 45-33, while in East London, Black Lion of Georgia beat the Border Bulldogs 35-5.
Despite the game been called off, the Griffons still lead the standings with six from six, while in the Currie Cup promotion barometer (South African teams only), Eastern Province, are at the top of the long with five wins in five games. The Griffons are unbeaten with three out of three and the SWD Eagles are in third.
The defending champions, the Leopards are under pressure with just two wins in their five outings to date and the rescheduled game in Welkom is a must-win one for the team from Potchefstroom.
Tuesday afternoon’s rescheduled game between the Griffons and Leopards kicks off at 15:00.
