Westraadt to start against Western Province─── MORGAN PIEK 07:36 Thu, 02 Jun 2022
The Griquas have made just one change to their starting team for Friday afternoon’s Currie Cup clash against Western Province in Stellenbosch.
The change to the team is in the front-row with the hooker, Simon Westraadt, earning a start ahead of Janco Uys, who in turn rotates to the bench.
Among the replacements, the Bulls loan player, Werner Gouws, comes info the injured Carl Els, and he will be on debut.
Griquas coach, Pieter Bergh, told OFM Sport that they have moved on from their 46-18 win over the Cheetahs.
“The biggest thing for us is that we've seen that teams have good victories and then the next week they lose a game that everyone though they should have won.
“We've had a lot of good meetings with the players and hopefully we get the same performance this week.
“We don't want to be over confident because then you can become arrogant, but I don't think we will be there. The players’ minds are in the right place.”
Friday afternoon’s match at the Danie Craven Stadium kicks off at 16:00.
Griquas - 15 Ashlon Davids, 14 Munier Hartzenberg, 13 Sango Xamlashe, 12 Rynhardt Jonker, 11 Luther Obi, 10 Zander du Plessis, 9 Johan Mulder, 8 Siba Qoma, 7 Hanru Sirgel, 6 Niel Otto (captain), 5 Derik Pretorius, 4 Johan Retief, 3 Janu Botha, 2 Simon Westraadt, 1 Kudzwai Dube.
