No new injury concerns for the Cheetahs─── MORGAN PIEK 13:08 Mon, 13 Jun 2022
The Toyota Cheetahs have no new injury concerns ahead of this weekend’s big Currie Cup semi-final against the Pumas in Bloemfontein, but Frans Steyn may still not be available.
On the weekend the Cheetahs secured the top-spot on the Currie Cup log after thumping a young Bulls team 35-5.
While the Cheetahs are hoping to have Frans Steyn fit and available for the match against the team from Nelspruit there are no new injuries.
The Cheetahs coach, Hawies Fourie, confirmed that it is highly unlikely that the two-time World Cup winner will be fit.
Fourie added that there is a possibility that Reinhardt Fortuin could be fit and ready, but they came through the game against the Bulls unscathed.
“There are new injuries, but we are hoping that a guy like Frans Steyn could maybe be ready for the semi-final, but I doubt that.
“We will see in the week what will happen with him. Maybe a guy like Reinhardt Fortuin could be ready. He has done some rehab and has been running next to the field in training, so it looks positive for him.
“We will keep monitoring them, but among the guys that played on Saturday, there are no new injuries.”
Saturday’s big Currie Cup semi-final at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 13:30.
