The Springboks will reassess their injury in the coming week before the 2022 Rugby Championship. On the weekend the Springboks clinched the three-Test series against Wales with a clinical 30-14 win at the Cape Town Stadium.

The Boks are enjoying a few weeks away from the field of play before reassembling to prepare to face the All Blacks.

Players such as Cobus Reinach, Duane Vermeulen and Frans Steyn could be back in the mix.

The Springbok coach, Jacques Nienaber, said they will assess their niggles before the championship.

“As a selection group we will probably has a sit down this week and have a discussion in terms of our plan going forward into the Rugby Championship.

“There are a couple of guys - a guy like Cobus Reinach who needs to pass an exit medical from his club, Montpellier. There is also Duane Vermeulen who needs to pass an exit medical as well.

“There are a lot of busy that are busy with their rehabilitation, so we will sit and reassess the situation.”

At this stage the winger, Cheslin Kolbe, could be doubtful after having to leave the field following a shot to the jaw during the first half against Wales on Saturday.

When Nienaber named his squad for the series against Wales he stated that Steyn was not considered as he was recovering from a hamstring niggle. He added that the two-time World Cup-winner who be called upon should the need arise due to injury.

The Springboks next Test will be on 6 August in Nelspruit against the All Blacks in the Rugby Championship.
