His nickname is Specmagic for a reason - Bergh─── MORGAN PIEK 06:22 Fri, 21 Oct 2022
The Griquas have confirmed the signing of the Springbok winger, Rosko Specman. The Blitzboks stalwart will be joining the Currie Cup runners-up from the Cheetahs, where he is still plying his trade until the end of October.
The Griquas' coach, Pieter Bergh, said they are delighted to have Specman join them and he believes that the fleet-footed winger still has the x-factor.
"Rosko is 33 years old, but he has not lost his speed and hasn't lost his ability to influence rugby matches," said Bergh.
"His nickname is Specmagic, and there is a reason for that. We saw the try he scored against the USA Falcons last week.
"That try that he scored, there are not a lot of players in South Africa that can score a try like that."
Meanwhile, Bergh has picked what they feel is their strongest available team for Friday night's Toyota Challenge game against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.
Eddie Fouché and Johan Mulder will form the halfback combination, while Raegan Oranje will once again start on the wing.
Mihali Stamper will be making his debut for the Peacock Blues and he will start in the second row alongside Albert Liebenberg.
Janu Botha, Janco Uys and Kudzwai Dube will form the front row.
Friday night’s match at the Toyota Stadium will kick off at 19:00.
