Carr recently made a return to the Bulls following a brief stint at the liquidated English Premiership club, Wasps.

The Bulls coach, Jake White, has named Carr on the flank as opposed to his traditional position of 8th-man.

White said that Carr has big boots to fill on the side of the scrum.

“Nizaam is not an out and out No 6, but we have to pick what is available,” said White.

“Nizaam brings so much in other departments, and anyway with Bismarck du Plessis there, we feel we have that base covered.

“Bismarck is such a good ball scavenger that he could easily play No 6.

“We’ve had Marco and Marcell in that position before, and that means we’ve been spoiled, and probably why people are asking the question.

“They are comparing Nizaam to those other guys, which is unfair, because he has a different skill set.”

Saturday afternoon’s game at Loftus Versfeld kicks off at 15:00. On Friday evening at 19:00 the Stormers will tackle the Scarlets in Cape Town.
