The Cheetahs are confident heading into the match, however, they remain wary of their Welsh opponents who beat them 43-8 in the quarter-finals of the then PRO14 in 2018.

The Cheetahs assistant coach, Charl Strydom, told OFM Sport that doing the basics well will put them in good stead.

“If we do the thing we do well, the rest will happen, Strydom added.

“That will put up into good positions on the field and from there we will be able to pressure teams.

“I thought we did the small things really well against Pau, but that is something that we've got to do again this weekend.

“There are no shortcuts in the game and if you want success you need to be able to do those things.”

Strydom added that from their previous experience against Scarlets not much has changed to their game despite Wayne Pivac no longer being their head coach.

“We know what to expect from them and we have managed to beat them in the past,” said Strydom.

“Also, we had that quarter-final in our first PRO14 season when they had all those internationals playing and we took a hiding over there.

“We know that to expect and they haven't changed much from the game that they play.

“They like a ball in hand approach and they are willing to take risks from all over the field.”

Saturday’s match at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi kicks off at 17:15.
