The Springbok coach, Jacques Nienaber, is happy with the depth at flyhalf in South Africa ahead of what will be a big international season with the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

A year ago, there were questions about the depth of the position in South Africa, however, ahead of the World Cup that will be played in France, Nienaber feels they are in a good position.

The Boks have the likes of Handré Pollard, Manie Libbok and Damian Willemse going forward, while Curwin Bosch has also hit some rich form of late for the Sharks.

Nienaber feels they are in a better space than most international teams when it comes to the depth at flyhalf in the country.

"Last year, this time, it was something that we spoke about a lot," said Nienaber.

"I think we’re fortunate that we were forced to go other routes due to things like injuries.

"We were always comfortable with a guy like Damian playing flyhalf for us, and then Frans Steyn was always there as a guy that could play ten for us.

"I think that we’ve got good depth there, but if you look at any country, if you go down to their third flyhalf, every country's going to have a drop in quality. It's just normal – you are lucky if it's not like that.

"I think we're probably fortunate that we've got some really quality flyhalves available for selection."

The Springboks will kick off their big season on 8 July against the Wallabies in Pretoria.
