The Toyota Cheetahs are sweating over the fitness of the eighth-man Jeandré Rudolph and the tighthead prop, Aranos Coetzee, ahead of this week's Currie Cup game against the Western Province.

Rudolph injured his knee during the 33-10 win over the Griffons in Bloemfontein on Friday night, while the Namibian international, Aranos Coetzee, injured his quadricep.

Coetzee only recently made his return to the field following a lengthy lay-off due to a calf injury.

The Cheetahs' assistant coach, Charl Strydom told OFM Sport that they are waiting on news regarding Rudolph and Coetzee.

“We had a couple of players with cramps towards the end, so we had to manage those guys and luckily, they all came through, said Strydom.

“We are waiting on the injury update on Jeandré. He said his knee is a bit sore, so we will see about that.

“We also have Aranos that injured his quad, so those are two worrying factors for us.”

The Cheetahs will be more worried about Coetzee at the points as their depth on the tighthead is a bit thin at this stage as the Lions-bound Beertjie van Vuuren is also still injured. The Cheetahs only have Hencus van Wyk and the young and inexperienced Lawrence Victor fully fit.

Rudolph will no doubt be a massive blow as well as the player is in fine form at the moment, however, the Cheetahs have more than enough depth as cover for the player.

Saturday’s match between the Cheetahs and Province at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein kicks off at 15:05.
