The All Blacks won their 57th straight Test in Auckland on Saturday by beating the Springboks 35-20 at the Mt Smart Stadium. The win extends the three-time World Champions' proud run in the city which they have had since 1994.

The All Blacks started the 104th Test between the two countries like a house on fire by the 17th minute they had raced to a 17-0 lead courtesy of tries by Aaron Smith and Shannon Frizell, while the flyhalf Richie Mo'unga had converted both tries and slotted a penalty.

Faf de Klerk finally got the Springboks on the board in the 36th minute with a penalty, however, Mo'unga immediately struck back with a three pointer.

The Cheetahs were however denied a try in the first half when the TMO Ben Whitehouse incorrectly deemed that Kolbe had knocked the ball over the tryline. This would certainly deny South Africa a try, and it could have changed the tide of the game.

The score was 20-3 in favour of the visitors at half time.

In the second half the Springboks looked much better, especially in their defence and they were starting to ask a lot more questions of the New Zealanders defence.

The replacement hooker Malcolm Marx opened the scoring in the second stanza with a try in the 54th minute, while six minutes later Kolbe was awarded with a try.

Will Jordan dotted down for the All Blacks in the 70th minute, before Mo'unga dotted down for their bonus point score.

Kwagga Smith managed to score a consultation try for the World Champions, however, it was far too little too late.

The Springboks will have to ask questions about their defence, discipline and their ball protection on the ground. They were found wanting in all those departments, while they certainly lost the kicking game as well. Perhaps more players that started in the 43-12 win over the Wallabies should have played against the All Blacks.

The Springboks next Test will be on 29 July when they face Argentina at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.
