The Springbok winger, Cheslin Kolbe, has welcomed the strong competition in the group heading into this weekend's Rugby Championship game against the Pumas and the looming World Cup squad announcement.

The exciting player is expected to play in the green-and-gold at Ellis Park for the first time in his career, as he is set to replace Makazole Mapimpi on the left-wing.

There is still room for a few players to book their ticket to France, and this will need to be done in the next two Tests against Argentina.

Kolbe, who recently scored against the All Blacks in Auckland said that it will be important for them to pitch up for the Test, and implement the lessons learnt from their 35-20 at the Mt Smart Stadium.

“We will need to pitch up on game day and there is a lot we can take out and learn from that game against the All Blacks

“There is always room for improvement as we were not close to playing at our best. We were dominated in the first 20 minutes.

“There will be a massive aerial battle in this game and the Argentines have shown what they can do. The outside backs they have are guys who've been on the Sevens circuit and they bring quite a lot to the team in terms of X-factor. We have to make sure we are well prepared.

“We’ve had a hard look at what happened in New Zealand, and I can see there is a big mind-shift from the team this week.”

On playing in a Test at Ellis Park for the first time Kolbe said it is not the easiest place to play rugby, but it is a field that would suit his game.

“I haven't had the opportunity to play at Ellis Park yet and if it comes this weekend, it will be special,” said the fleet-footed outside back.

“It is definitely a quick pitch for the type of rugby I like to play. The pitch and conditions are really fantastic. I have had some good memories there and also some tough ones.

“I look forward to another opportunity is I get to play at Ellis Park.”

The team to tackle the Pumas will be named on Tuesday afternoon and Saturday’s Test at Ellis Park kicks off at 17:05.
