Cheetahs women confident heading into final─── MORGAN PIEK 08:23 Fri, 04 Aug 2023
The Free State women’s rugby team are confident heading into their First Division final against the SWD Eagirls in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
The Cheetahs are the team to beat in the competition following an unbeaten season where they dominated just about every team.
The Cheetahs reached the final by thumping the Limpopo Blue Bulls 74-5 in the semi-finals last week, while the Eagirls beat the Leopards.
The last time the Cheetahs played against the Eagirls they thrashed them 40-0 in Bloemfontein.
En route to the final they won eight games and, in the process, scored staggering 104 tries while only conceding six.
The Cheetahs captain, Bernice Strydom, told OFM Sport that they’ve worked too hard not to win the final.
“I know we are going to win this final because every lady in the team is working extremely hard and the coaches are 100% behind us,” said the Springbok.
“They are working hard to help us with everything they can, so we definitely have something that we're working towards and the motivation is burning like fire inside of us.
“We're all working towards the same goal and dream - that is what is going to bring us success.”
Saturday’s big final at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 13:00 and entrance is free of charge.
