Griquas hope for good news regarding Vlam─── MORGAN PIEK 13:25 Mon, 27 Nov 2023
“Hopefully he will only be out for about three months, but we will only know after the scans. We're hoping for good news in that it's only a three month injury and not longer, but he will definitely be out for a few months.”
The Griquas are sweating over the fitness of the fiery flanker, Lourens Oosthuizen, after the player sustained a serious knee injury on the weekend in Kimberley.
The former Shimlas stalwart picked up suspected a Lateral Collateral Ligament injury during the round three Airlink Cup clash against the Leopards in Kimberley and it is expected that he will be out for a few months.
The Griquas coach, Pieter Bergh, told OFM Sport that they are hoping for good news from the scans.
“Vlam is going for a scan today (Monday) and it looks like a LCL knee injury,” said Bergh.
“Hopefully he will only be out for about three months, but we will only know after the scans.
“We're hoping for good news in that it's only a three month injury and not longer, but he will defiantly be out for a few months.”
This injury has certainly ruled the player out for this weekend’s Cup final against the Pumas in Nelspruit.
A positive for the Griquas is that the former captain, Niel Otto, played a blinder against the Leopards, while they also have player such as the exciting and hard-working Thabo Ndimande to fall back on.
On Saturday at 16:00 the Pumas and Griquas will battle it out in the Cup final of the Airlink Cup in Nelspruit.
