Discipline will be key for the Blitzboks this weekend when they play in the Vancouver Sevens in Canada.

The tournament kicks off tonight and the Springboks Sevens team will be targeting a record-extending fourth title at the event.

South Africa are in a tough pool along with New Zealand, Ireland and Great Britain, and every win is important in order to reach the quarter-finals.

The experienced forward, Zain Davids, who will be playing in his seventh Vancouver Sevens said they have to keep their discipline in check.

“Discipline will be key for us, especially against tough pool opponents such as Ireland, New Zealand and Great Britain.

“They love to keep the ball and our defence will be key to stop that, but without conceding penalties in the process.

“The seniors provide good guidance to the younger players, and they bring the energy and that boosts the older guys as well.

“It is also good to have Impi Visser back with us in the forwards, he is a real work horse and when he is around, everyone else is inspired to work as hard.”

On Friday night at 23:52 the Blitzboks will kick-off their campaign against New Zealand. On Saturday morning at 4:56 the will tackle Great Britain, while at 23:05 the will face Ireland in their final Pool game.
