“It's really going to be a lekker match to play in. When I was still there, the mentality against the bigger unions was one of always giving your best and to show that you can contest at that level, and to possibly earn yourself an opportunity.”

The Toyota Cheetahs loose-forward Friedle Olivier has warned that they will be in for a tough battle when they face the Valke in Kempton Park on Saturday in the SA Cup.

Olivier played in close to 90 games for the Valke before heading to Siberia and then the Cheetahs.

On the weekend the Cheetahs beat the SWD Eagles 46-14 in George, while the Valke fell short with a 53-40 defeat to the Griffons in Welkom.

Olivier, who is as tough as they come, told OFM Sport that the Valke will be geared for the challenge.

“It's going to be a lekker one and it's always nice to go back to where it all started,” said Olivier.

“It's really going to be a lekker match to play in. When I was still there, the mentality against the bigger unions was one of always giving your best and to show that you can contest at that level, and to possibly earn yourself an opportunity.

“The boys are going to come out and give their best, but in saying that, I can stay that about ourselves as well. We're in the middle of a nice building phase.”

The Cheetahs will be boosted for this match with the return of some players such as the captain, Victor Sekekete, who was at the Ospreys, while a few Shimlas’ Varsity Cup players can come into contention as well.

The Cheetahs will name their squad for the match in Kempton Park will be named on Thursday.

Saturday’s game between the Valke and Cheetahs at the Barnard Stadium kicks off at 15:00.
