The Pumas are confident that they can get the job done when they head to Kimberley this week to play against the Suzuki Griquas in the final of the SA Cup.

The Pumas earned their place in the final on the weekend with a 43-14 win against the Griffons in Nelspruit.

The last time the Pumas face the Griquas was in Kimberley, and on the day the Peacock Blues scrum destroyed the visitors from the Lowveld as they earned a 31-26 win.

While it’s not quite the Currie Cup, the SA Cup final will have a bit more spice to it as the Griquas will want to make up for the 2022 Currie Cup final in Kimberley when they were beaten 26-19.

The Pumas captain, Shane Kirkwood, told OFM Sport that it will be tough, especially up front and it will be important to dominant the set piece battle.

“It's a massive week for us and it's going to be a big challenge to go to Kimberley and go and play the final over there,” said the Pumas lock.

“But, we have done it before and I think we're in for a big week. It’s going to obviously be tough up front and it's going to go down to the set pieces. The best team on the day with the best set piece is going to come out on top.

“We’ve been working hard on our set pieces, and then, yeah, we've had a good couple of weeks. We've had a good run and we had a good one this past weekend against the Griffons.

“There are still one of two things we'd like to work on and fix, definitely, going forward for this week and going into the Currie Cup.

“But, saying that, we’re looking forward to the challenge this week.”

Saturday’s final between the Griquas and Pumas at the Suzuki Stadium kicks off at 12:30.
