Eleven uncapped players invited to Springbok training camp─── ILSE SMALBERGER 08:24 Sun, 09 Jun 2024

Eleven uncapped players have been included in the squad of 35 players announced by Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus on Saturday for the team’s first official training camp of the season.
The uncapped players in the squad are the Lions’ Jordan Hendrikse, Quan Horn, Edwill van der Merwe and Morne van den Berg, the Sharks’ Phepsi Buthelezi, Siya Masuku and Ethan Hooker, and the Stormers’ Ben-Jason Dixon, Sacha Feinberg-Mgomezulu, Neethling Fouche and Andre-Hugo Venter. Players from the Bulls, who advanced to the semi-final of the United Rugby Championship, were not considered for this squad and neither were players based in Europe.
The players will gather in Pretoria on Monday to start preparing for the first Test of the season against Wales on the 22nd of June at Twickenham.
Nineteen forwards and 16 backs were included in the squad, among them number 8 Jasper Wiese, who will only be available for selection after the Wales Test due to a six-week ban.
The Wales Test in London will be followed by the Incoming Series which features back-to-back Tests against Ireland in Pretoria and Durban respectively on 6 and 13 July and a historic first Test against Portugal in Bloemfontein on 20 July.
