“I've no doubt South Africa are going to be twice as good this weekend and so hence why we need to move pretty quickly this week as far as the honesty of where we're at and what we need to do going forward.”

The Ireland coach, Andy Farrell, has called on his team to focus on Saturday’s Test against the Springboks and nothing else.

The two teams will lock-horns in the second and final Test that will be played in Durban.

Ireland will look to level the series after losing 27-20 in Pretoria last week, while the back-to-back world champions have a series whitewash in their sights.

The Irish made several changes to their team, including dropping the captain Peter O’Mahony to the bench.

Farrell warned that the Boks will be even better on Saturday, and they need to improve.

“We disappointed enough especially, like I said, our first half of performance,” said Farrell.

“It wasn't us – I wasn’t us doing things properly and it might not seem like that to everyone, but to us it was. So therefore, we need to improve, we need to commit and be better than we were.

“I've no doubt South Africa are going to be twice as good this weekend and so hence why we need to move pretty quickly this week as far as the honesty of where we're at and what we need to do going forward.”

Farrell added that he agrees with the notion that this current group of Springboks is arguably the finest that has been produced in the rich history of the green-and-gold.

“You look at the strength of depth that they've got and the quality they've got, it says everything about where South Africa are at this time,” he added.

“I've heard you guys and many experts talk about whether this is the best South African group that they've ever had, well, I certainly go along with that type of feeling myself.

“That's why we're privileged to come over here and test ourselves.”

Saturday’s Test at Kings’ Park kicks off at 17:00.
