Motorists urged to observe law─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 07:00 Mon, 21 Dec 2020

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) is calling on motorists and all road users to be cautious this festive season in order to avoid putting pressure on hospitals as they are already overwhelmed by Covid-19.
The Corporation - alongside the SAPS - has been conducting roadblocks in different parts of the country in efforts to raise road safety awareness campaign. OFM News previously reported on how the RTMC's Mpho Mokhantso earlier this month addressed Emergency Service's personnel gathered at the Shell Ultra City Pitstop in Bloemfontein where the Health Department was celebrating its public-private sector partnership with Rosepark Hospital and Shell Ultra City Pitstop. They marked 20 years since they have been presenting the road safety campaign to holiday goers and all road users.
Mokhantso during his address highlighted that road safety is everybody's responsibility stating that more than 14 000 people die on SA roads every year.
Mokhantso, standing alongside Health MEC Motseng Tsiu, Head of the Department David Motaung, and owner of Shell Ultra City Pitstop Herman Steyn, encouraged road users to observe traffic laws and wear seatbelts at all times.
With South Africa having entered the second wave of Covid-19, the RTMC has sent a stern warning against transgressors and encouraged Traffic officials and members of the SAPS to have a zero tolerance approach this festive season.
