Beating Kaizer Chiefs in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup this weekend will be no easy task for Free State Stars but after Super Eagles, Chippa United and Ubuntu Cape Town the team fancy their chances.

Ea La Koto Skipper, Paulus Masehe, by his own admission says the Amakhosi will be tough to beat but added that as much as they want to book a spot in the final, they are hungry for a win over Steve Komphela’s men.

He said: “We will try and fight with everything against Chiefs so we can be able to reach the final. It will not be easy but as much as they want it we are also hungry for it as well.”

Reflecting on recent wins in the competition, the Captain added: “The level of commitment, consistency, team spirit, discipline and humility has played a major role. Even when we were getting those results we tried by all means to remain level-headed and I think that helped us a lot.”

Masehe, who remembers vividly when the class of 1994 passed his village with an open bus celebrating the Coca-Cola victory, added what it would mean for the club to go all the way in the competition.

“It will be fair for this generation of players who did so well this season to at least achieve something and leave a legacy.

“It was a good moment for me and I also want to leave by emulating the class of 1994.

“This team has been part of my life and it will only be fair to at least win something before I hang up my boots and rewrite the history books of the club.”
