Fans on the Premier Soccer League club, Bloemfontein Celtic, will boycott this weeks’ home match against Golden Arrows at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium.

This game will see Steve Komphela leading Golden Arrows against his former club since he announced his shock resignation as the head coach in December last year.

This promoted the cash-strapped Celtic to name John Maduka and Lehlohonolo Seema as the interim coaches again until they can find a suitable replacement for the former Bafana Bafana captain.

A lack of professional, resources and the non-payment of the players and staff was the major driving force behind Komphela jumping ship to head to Golden Arrows.

In an interview with Kickoff the chairperson of the Bloemfontein Celtic National Supporters Club, Mabena Pule, indicated that they want to send a strong message to the management at Celtic, and they will be doing so by boycotting the match.

“There were a lot of issues discussed, including the resignation of the coach and of the players that have not been paid their salaries," Pule says.

"It's so sad that we only hear these things via the media and [there is] no word from the management.

"The resignation letter that has been circulating in the media was distracting and an embarrassment to the club.

"In our meeting, we resolved that our fans will not buy tickets and attend the game against Arrows.

"Please note, we are not stopping any ordinary fans going to the stadium and also remember that Arrows also have their fans, but we are only saying as Celtic supporters we will not attend that match.

"This is a way to show the management that we are not satisfied and happy with the way things are happening in the club.

"You must also remember we delivered a memorandum to the management regarding our grievances but they never came back to us with answers."

Sunday afternoon’s match is scheduled to kick-off at 15:30.
