No more home games for Celtic─── MORGAN PIEK 10:27 Fri, 26 Apr 2019
The Premier Soccer League club Bloemfontein Celtic’s chances of finishing in the top 8 this season has been severely dented following their Disciplinary Committee hearing on Thursday evening.
Celtic had to appear before the league DC following the unrest on 14 April at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium which led to the match against the Cape Town City FC being abandoned.
While the match was deadlocked at 0-0 when the game was called off by the officials, the DC ordered that the match be forfeited to the Citizens with the team from the Mother City receiving a 3-0 win.
Furthermore, no Celtic match will be allowed to be played in the Free State for the remainder of the 2018/19 PSL season.
Celtic have two more home matching remaining in their campaign, and the first of these is on Saturday against Kaizer Chiefs.
This match has already been scheduled to take place at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. This match was initially not scheduled to be played at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium because of its limited capacity.
Celtic was in talks with the Free State Rugby Union in order to make use of the Toyota Stadium, however, the venue is not available because of the Guinness Pro14 match between the Toyota Cheetahs and the Southern Kings on Saturday.
Furthermore, the actions of the supporters left the Molemela Stadium damaged.
Celtic’s second home game is against AmaZulu, however, the league will determine where this match will be played.
